Carol Jo Roeder

I am drawn to painting because I like telling stories in a 2-dimensional format and I love working with color.

My paintings tend to be representational, reflecting things or places that are meaningful to me – a beach, a grandchild, a favorite object.  I especially like to work from images I’ve taken while traveling.

I enjoy the vibrancy and versatility of acrylic paint, and the softness of watercolor, so I paint in both media. In each, I like to explore the subtle way that one color can morph into another and the way things are transformed and defined by the light that illuminates them.
