My paintings are seeded in environmental, philosophical, and emotional statements. Historical and contemporary events as well as scientific studies propel me to put on canvas some type of visual essay. They can be subtly abstract, harshly realistic, or vague enough for varied interpretations.
I paint using acrylics and mixed media, often using palette knives and sponges to get bold and subtle effects.
Creating a statement on canvas is a way to share my thoughts. Islanders have a protective sense of our world habitat, and much of what I paint comes from that message. I hope to convey visually what may be said via music or written words.
