Arlene Fonaroff

I have always been drawn to images of landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes and architecture that evoke memories and emotions. When I paint, I am challenged to transfer what’s in my mind’s eye to my canvas—to create a palette and brush strokes that bring an image into reality, whether realistic, impressionistic or abstract.
All of my work is acrylic. I seek to layer my paints in ways that produce either subtle or vivid color depending on the subject I’m painting and the mood I want to convey. I find myself drawn to an eclectic array of subjects in which a graphic style can be incorporated in impressions of remote landscapes and urban environments.
