For me, painting is a way of thinking and seeing differently. I’m intrigued by the way we all look at words, images, or both and make meaning of them. It’s such a personal process–a way of expressing a thought, knowing all the while, that everyone who looks at a painting makes her own meaning of it.
Most of my work is abstract, using acrylics and mixed media. I love color, texture, and incorporating papers, text, images, compounds, fabrics, metals, clay, and found objects, to build an idea. At times I begin with a subject — family, women, culture, or the environment– but sometimes the idea grows in the paint. Email Karen at [email protected] for more information.
